Cirrux Update – iCal subscription links and other updates

January 19, 2026

Hi everyone,

If one thing became clear over the past weekend, it’s that working on Cirrux became more urgent than ever before. At the same time: I don’t buy that we’re in some way pressured in relying on products that are built, maintained and hosted by companies on the other side of the ocean. We’re not using those because we have to, but because we want to. Those products are just really really good and we need to raise the bar dramatically. I’m not settling for 70% as good, and where I can’t compete on scale I can make up in responsiveness and dedication to help you get started.

And you are already helping, by the way. By being involved, by spending a little bit of money on an independent company—for now a team of one, but as more and more folks join that will change soon. So thanks for your trust, your energy and your dedication.

Here’s what changed in the product since last week:

iCal subscription links

Set up a public subscription link for any of your calendars

I’ve been spending the majority of my time working on tackling a lot of smaller issues (see below) and working on Cirrux Sync, but there’s one fun new feature: you can now enable a secret public link to your calendar. If you’re like me, work and life is a mix, and having this link allows you to see your personal calendar side by side, for example if you’re using Google Calendar at work.

Set it up by going to Settings → Calendars

Fixes and improvements

  • Fixed: reminders without a status passed now correctly defaults to uncompleted
  • Fixed: davx5 on Android now correctly syncs calendars and calendar updates
  • Fixed: redirect loop when signing in via QR code on mobile when already logged in
  • Fixed: invite response buttons in Thunderbird when using multiple mailbox addresses
  • Fixed: don’t allow subdomains (eg www) when adding a new domain
  • Fixed: handle empty message-ids when writing draft emails in Gmail for Android or iOS
  • Improvement: DNS validation will retry records a few times before marking a domain as invalid, reducing notification emails
  • Improvement: always show DNS copy buttons on mobile
  • Improvement: clarify fake inbox landing page (there’s no webmail support yet)
  • Improvement: when sending invites, use display names in attendee list and augment with user display names where we can match them

Next up

  • Cirrux Sync: I'm working on the last bits around a continous importer for your Google account, which pulls in emails, calendars and contacts.
  • Filters: Biggest request so far is adding the ability to create inbox rules and I can't wait to roll it out.

You know where to find me if you have questions or if you run into any issues.

Have a great week,

Rick
